GRAND FIESTA AMERICANA OAXACA: A FUSION OF TRADITION AND MODERNITY

The word "Guelaguetza", meaning "offering" in Zapotec, embodies the spirit of our hotel: a tribute to the communities of the Central Valleys of Oaxaca, showcasing their art, culture, and traditions throughout every space.

The interior design, led by Tresmásdos, assigned each hotel area to a representative village or archaeological site from the region. This concept offers guests and visitors a glimpse into Oaxaca’s vast historical, artistic, and cultural richness, sparking their curiosity to explore more.

The Grand Fiesta Americana Oaxaca architectural project was awarded in the hospitality category at the Porcelanosa International Project Awards (PIPA). This global recognition by PORCELANOSA honors architectural creativity and highlights projects that seamlessly blend design with their surroundings.

Just as Oaxaca City brings together people from various villages, our hotel unites guests and visitors in shared spaces that celebrate the region’s diversity. The lobby and common areas feature elements inspired by the Central Valleys, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary elegance.

The Monte Albán and Mitla archaeological sites influence the design of the pool and event hall, with ornamental details like grecas, earthy tones, and stone-like structures that evoke the grandeur of ancient temples.

San Bartolo Coyotepec's black clay pottery serves as a central motif throughout the hotel, particularly showcased in the Stelaris Cocktail Bar, where this iconic Oaxacan craft takes center stage.

Colorful alebrijes adorn various areas, most notably in La Distral Restaurant, where guests can admire the creative process behind these fantastical figures, crafted by artisans from San Martín Tilcajete and San Antonio Arrazola.

The Business Center and Grand Club honor the textile traditions of Teotitlán del Valle and Santo Tomás Jalietza, featuring pedal and backstrap loom weaving. These spaces highlight the use of ancestral dyes such as cochineal and walnut, which produce vibrant, natural hues.

The Nabane Spa draws inspiration from the petrified waterfalls of Hierve el Agua, with finishes and textures that evoke the soothing, sacred essence of this natural wonder.

Lastly, the Santa María Atzompa pottery tradition, renowned for its glazed and embossed ceramics, is reflected in the pool entrance, gym, and spa areas, celebrating this centuries-old craft.

Our pool pays homage to the Monte Albán Archaeological Center, with walls adorned with grecas and mound-like designs that mirror the site’s aerial view. The ceiling features warrior shield glyphs, completing this stunning tribute to Zapotec heritage.
