The Palace of Cortés sits on the Plaza de Armas, facing the Government Palace. Hernán Cortés understood early on that the quickest and most cunning way to subdue indigenous populations was through a game of religious equivalences. Thus, on the ruins of Tlatlocayacalli, the conqueror erected his palace in 1526, where his wife Juana Zúñiga also resided. Adjacent to the Palace was the "chapel of the Indians," which Father Melgarejo had promoted years earlier on the aforementioned remains of the Tlahuica ceremonial and tribute center—from 1325 to 1521 AD.

The Tlahuicas had their ceremonial center in Teopanzolco, in the present-day neighborhood of Vista Hermosa. The toponym could be translated as "old temple," a designation with which the Mexicas referred to the Tlahuica building.

The colonial gardens were, during the viceroyalty, a reflection of economic power. The Jardín Borda is one of the rare examples that has survived from that era. It was the summer residence of José de la Borda, a miner from Taxco who had amassed a great fortune in the 18th century by extracting silver. During the visit, we can enjoy the fountains and the pond adorned in French style, as well as the array of flowers and plants from around the world. The trade of the Spanish colonies in Asia, the Philippines, as well as commercial contacts with China, Japan, or Australia across the Pacific, enriched the garden with species. Just before his death, an adjacent church was built on May 30, 1778.

The Cathedral of Cuernavaca in the historic center is one of the oldest in Mexico. It exhibits different construction phases since it was erected in 1529 as the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption. The first Franciscan friars who arrived in Mexico founded this precinct, and in the 17th century, it was granted cathedral status.

Next to the cathedral, we find the Robert Brady Museum, an important collection amassed by the painter and designer throughout his life. The building was Brady's residence, and many know it as "the House of the Tower," as it is part of the colonial Franciscan convent complex. The second bishop of Cuernavaca, Francisco Plancarte y Navarrete, carried out a significant reform to convert it into an astronomical observatory in the early 19th century. Desamortized after one of the Cristero Wars (1926-1929), the Casa Torre was first owned by George Thatcher and, in 1961, purchased by Robert Brady. Four years after his death in 1986, it was opened to the public as the Robert Brady Museum. The artistic explosion is so vast that it includes pieces from all over the world, as well as pre-Hispanic art objects and paintings by Rufino Tamayo and Frida Kahlo.

The craft market gathers vendors selling typical products from the state of Morelos. Here, you can acquire Cuernavaca pottery, clay objects from San Antón, wax products, and many more crafts by browsing through the market stalls.

In Cuernavaca, we have the natural wonder of Barranca de Amanalco. This network of trails, constructed in the year 1900, allows visitors to traverse walkways and suspension bridges to enjoy nature, with magnificent views from its viewpoints.

An impressive site within the city is the top of the Salto de San Antón waterfall, with its 40 meters in height and 30 meters in depth serving as a diving platform for the brave. The Tlahuicas called it Analco, which means "on the other side of the river or the hut". The legend surrounding it tells of a warrior who disappeared a day before his wedding, causing despair and the death of his beloved. Surprisingly, the woman's hair continued to grow, and the gods, moved by her suffering, turned her hair into the waterfall and the warrior into a river, allowing their merger for eternity.
